Deadline

Your final deadline is your second lesson this week. You must make sure that any documents you want me to read through are with me by the end of today

Deadline

So all presentations given. You have between now and the 16th to get your work in to me. We will complete coversheets this week in lessons. I will be doing some screening for Marion over the next couple of weeks so it is up to you to get your presentation script and catalogure to me.

I am happy to re-read any to maximise your mark

After Half Term

You should all have a completed catalogue and a rough outline of your presentation script and slides.

Update and change of dates

Week commencing 1 November

Catalogues should now be complete and you can use your Primary and Secondary sources to start constructing your presentation. Evidence of this must be on your blog or notes on paper are fine. Progress will be monitored


From 22 November

Delivery of presentation scripts to peers this will illustrate the depth quality and validity of your primary and secondary research. You can use your blog to present you should use YouTube or similar to illustrate your points the thing you must not do is present an essay. Yes you can use Powerpoint to present as well but do not just present an essay in Powerpoint make it interesting. By all means use bullet points lists diagrams illustrations and of course clips but not an essay



I will be available to meet with you and discuss any changes you may need to make in order to maximise your mark

Welcome Back

So here we go again everyone. I hope you all had a great summer and stayed away from any rubbish films ! I will tell you all about my summer viewing with some interesting comments.

Over the next few days I will be going through the blogs to see what you have been up to over the summer. Hopefully you all have been researching and have done some textual analysis on your chosen films and are ready to get cracking on your FM4 Project. See you all next week

Draft Research Titles

Ready for your first lesson next week can you have your draft research titles ready to discuss with your focus film and at least two others. Make sure you check the booklet for advice and if stuck come and see me

Research

I hope you have all signed up to the weekly Empire Newsletter which you will find very useful as part of your research.
Some people have been in touch about titles this is a good thing but I want you to keep an open mind until I have been able to present all the titles to you in full. Those of you who have come up with a title dont start work yet.

Dont be to specific and make sure you have been to the Library first to make sure there is sufficient existing research.

Starting your research

Make sure you all have blogs set up I will then start following your blog so I can keep a record of what you are doing and recommend books sites etc. Similarly if you and anoother student are working in similar areas it would be good for you to share resources.

At the end of this week you should be able to start formulating a research topic but dont rush into it and think about how much existing research is out there.

A2 Coursework

After your lesson this week I want you to start building your blog put in a links list, blog list, video bar and make sure that you change the time format to London in Settings> formatting
Have a play around and if you missed the lesson make sure you are a follower of this blog as it will be the starting point for your Research Project

Make sure you have a look at thei site Film Studies for free an excellent site and a good video of George A Romero on there at the moment.

Start thinking about what you may want to research remember to think about how much information is out there on your chosen subject, obsequrity is good but make sure there is some written research around the area that you can use.

Welcome to A2 Film Studies

For the first part of the year you will be completing your FM3 Small Scale Research Projects. I will be supervising you using a blog so today's lesson will be setting up that blog.

I recommend that you all go and watch Fight Club again as we will be looking at some of the key scenes next week and I would like to know what you think the key scenes are.

Coursework

Deadline this Thursday everyone. The deadline is our lesson on Thursday and no longer unless there is a written evidence. I am still a little concerned that I have not see a great deal of work especially the evaluations.

Coursework

On Thursday this week we will be using the lesson to view rushes and storyboards for coursework. If you have started editing can you get a rough cut ready for the lesson. Your footage may still be on tape that is also fine. It is vital that you can demonstrate some learning

On Thursday 11 we will suspend Fight Club to look at your rushes for the coursework

Fight Club

Going to finish the film this week then its on to the feedback.. I will leave it one more week to see the rushes. I am happy to meet with you at anytime to go throught them.

This Week

I will be screening Fight Club this week so ensure that you are in lessons this week. I aim to do about 4 weeks on the film I will then do some screenings for Marions side of the course. In the meantime it is vital that you get on with the coursewok. I will arrange a date in a couple of weeks to start having a look at peoples rushes in class.

Remember that Media AS and A2 Film AS and Video Production are also all filming so book equipment well in advance.

On wednesday we are going to start looking at Fight Club which is your close study film. It is vital that you are in the lesson

Treatment

There are still a couple of you who have not yet handed in a treatment. Can you get these in asap please.

I will now screen our Close study film Fight Club after half term as I forgot about the Review day on the 11 which would not allow us to see the film that week so it will be after half term.. Therefore make sure you use this week and next week well in order get some rushes together or start storyboarding and dont forget a synopsis needs to go in the portfolio

On Friday 29th you need to hand in a treatment to me aim for about 200 words. Remember that we will be viewing rushes Wednesday 3rd Feb

As we appear to be snowed in for a while start having a think about your A2 coursework. You will need to submit your synopsis to me early next week. Then we can start planning and hopefully discussing final ideas.

HNY and welcome back to all of you. We are going to start this year by focussing on Short films to help you with your coursework. I would like you to start by writing a short synopsis of your idea so we can discuss it and move forward that way. Make sure you are in on Wednesday as I will give you the Deadline Dates and a couple of exercises to get you going.
